this is a live ampkit performance. the fourth and final ebow piece from the may 8, 2012 session, "wide open spaces" is a straight ahead energy bow guitar solo. this piece was selected for inclusion on the new "gone native" album, which was released on worldwide download on august 1, 2012, and will be available on physical CD later in the year. "wide open spaces" is one of a number of live performances included on the experimental side of the record, it's track 17 of 19 (you can hear the whole album on bandcamp, where you can also download either the album itself or tracks from it) and this is the actual live video performance from which the album track was mastered. I really enjoyed playing all four of the ebow pieces in this session, this one perhaps more than any other; it was the final piece from the session, and I felt very calm and focussed as the performance proceeded, and I think the video has turned out really well, this is the kind of solo I played for years when I worked both as a solo artist and in the band bindlestiff (but was never filmed until now), playing in the style of bill nelson; but with the dave stafford twist of using quite a bit of reverb to give the ebow a nice, atmospheric tone. ampkit is one of the more respectable guitar applications, and industry veteran peavey have done a great job on the app: it's laid out really simply yet really functionally; they provide a lot of really nice presets that sound good right out of the box; and there's pretty ...
